Dekker, Ltd. And Defense Acquisition University Sign Memorandum Of Understanding

Fort Belvoir, VA (November 19, 2003) - Dekker, Ltd. and the Defense Acquisition University today signed a Memorandum of Understanding that marks the beginning of a strategic cooperative effort between both parties. Simon Dekker, CEO of Dekker, Ltd. and Wayne Abba, Vice President of Dekker, Ltd. met with DAU Commandant Colonel Ronald Flom, USA, in a ceremony at the DAU headquarters.

DAU provides systems acquisition education and training in multiple functional areas for the Department of Defense Acquisition, Technology and Logistics Workforce. Dekker’s training provides the personnel of Dekker and its customers with the best possible information on business practices in order to develop world-class business management organizations. Dekker also publishes leading-edge management software solutions. The MOU establishes a cooperative framework to pursue mutually beneficial educational opportunities.

Expected benefits from the relationship include Dekker participation in development of DAU coursework and attendance by Department of Defense students at Dekker courses. Dekker’s subject matter expertise includes risk management, earned value management, program management, contract administration and contract incentives. Dekker also will provide training materials and educational software licenses to the DAU.

COL Flom welcomed Dekker’s contribution to DAU’s educational mission and emphasized the importance of earned value management to Defense program managers. Mr. Dekker concurred and expressed his satisfaction at being able to give something back to his adopted country. Recalling his emigration to the United States as a child, he said that signing the MOU was a milestone equivalent to his swearing-in as a citizen and to his oath as a United States Marine.

Mr. David Bachman, EVM Program Director at DAU, commented that Wayne Abba had supported DAU for many years in his public service career. As Dekker’s principal for the MOU, Mr. Abba welcomed the opportunity to return to the campus to help educate a new generation of students.
