Lane County, Oregon to Implement Dekker Systems

The Public Works Department for Lane County, Oregon – home to over 300,000 residents and the University of Oregon – has turned to Dekker PMIS™ (Program Management Information System) to fulfill its cost accounting needs. Dekker will also provide training and consulting services as Lane County replaces its in-house cost accounting system with the Dekker PMIS™ software suite.

After determining the cost accounting system the county had been using was no longer sufficient to handle the growing number of projects and resources the Public Works Department must process, officials began looking for a more robust solution that would integrate with their existing accounting software and fulfill the State of Oregon and other outside agency reporting requirements. With its Activity Based Costing approach to Earned Value Management and the ability to integrate scope, schedule, deliverables, and cost into a single location, Dekker PMIS™ provides the perfect solution.

Although it has deployed PeopleSoft financial software county-wide, there is no centralized Accounts Receivable billing system, and different locations use different software tools to generate invoices. The ability of Dekker PMIS™ to integrate with over 80 accounting systems will allow Lane County employees already familiar with specific programs to continue using those programs with full confidence that the information will translate into the central Dekker system.

Lane County stretches from the Pacific Ocean to the Cascade Mountains, and encompasses the second-largest urban area in Oregon, behind only Portland. The Public Works Department maintains nearly 1500 miles of roads, over 400 bridges, provides fleet vehicles and heavy equipment to county departments, and has processed over $80 million in financial transactions.
